To our grandfather Apostolos Siaraferas, fur was a commodity to be traded. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to the USA via Ellis Island in New York in 1915 in order to sell fur scrap material.
To our father, Dimitrios it was a material he learned to beautifully handcraft into fur plates and sell to Germans and other Europeans.
To my brother Apostolos and I, Panos, this craft was learned and delicately precisioned in New York during the 1980’s where we first worked in all areas of fur garment making and in 1985 started our workshop. Our skills were put to test with clients such as Givenchy and the strict demands for fine quality workmanship of the NYC buying offices.
Inspired by our move in 1989 to Kastoria, Greece the European fur making capital, we saw fur as a versatile sustainable material that we can use to make into refined beautiful garments and started Etherion Fur Collection.
Today, our team at Etherion comprises of highly skilled crafts persons, fashion designers and stylists with a passion for working with fur. We envision our customers as women and men with a relaxed, sophisticated attitude to fashion. Our customers – from St. Petersburg to Paris, from London to New York or Lebanon can choose from collection pieces for easy urban strutting, glamourous evenings or weekends at the ski slopes.
